60 years ago Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s “I Have a Dream” speech
helped galvanize a national Civil Rights movement.
The Speech became a slogan for equality and freedom.
Now, inspired by Dr. King’s Speech young people at Boys & Girls Clubs can express their dreams in a national lyrics-writing contest.
Announcing The “Voice Your Dreams Project".

TUNING INTO TEENS

The inaugural Voice Your Dreams Project is a free arts education program, accessible to Club teens, grades 7-12, at the more than 5,000 Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide.

To amplify the voices of teens from Boys & Girls Clubs via arts education, in a social justice (i.e., civil rights, women’s rights, gender rights, mental health rights, etc) themed lyrics writing contest in-tune with our young people, to encourage creative expression in lyrics and/or poetry by answering the question: “What change do you want to see in the world? What are your dreams for the future?”

The Curriculum:

The contest is supported by educational modules, artist videos and exercises, helping to guide members in the art of writing lyrics. Lessons are web-based and may be facilitated by Club leaders or teens may engage independently.
